I keep getting asked if we will ever be able to accept Venmo for giving, and I keep shying away from it because they aren’t currently accepting non-profit accounts and the setup for a business looks a little complicated. But also, you can’t use them to setup regular giving on a schedule which is preferred when giving electronically. Is anyone using it? Any other thoughts?
There are merchant gateways (like PayPal’s on Braintree) that support Venmo
and bring in the integration and reporting you’d need to make it a workable
solution - but that requires your online giving tool to support that
gateway and many of them only support their own gateway so… Sure, it can
be done, but it’s not likely to be easy. And, I’m not sure there’s enough
Venmo usage in the US to really justify the work…
