Discourse has a functionality called Groups that allow for some interesting functionality. Specifically, groups can be mentioned or messaged and can have public or private membership information.
On chat, the idea came up to assist with discovering CITN members in your area to help with facilitating regional meetups, or as you’re traveling around the country. I mentioned the group functionality as an option to help, and wanted to gauge the interest of the community on this feature.
- I would use the group functionality to find and collaborate with people in my area
- I would join my regional group(s) but would otherwise ignore it
- I would not join a group
