The Data Specialist will assist the IT Team to cast vision for and maintain day-to-day operations of our church management system (ChMS) thereby equipping staff to help people take their next steps toward Christ. Our ChMS is a mission-critical tool that allows us to identify and engage with the people that call Granger Community Church home as well as inform ministry decision-making. This person will assist our staff in maintaining data integrity and security, extracting and analyzing data, event registration support and coordination, and end-user documentation and training.


Minimum of two years experience with data management.

Oriented toward great customer service with good written and oral communication skills.

Coachable with a willingness/desire to learn new tools, processes and best practices.

Ability to maintain data quality, security and confidentiality.

Experience creating coherent and easy-to-follow end-user documentation and best practices and training thereof.

High proficiency in common office applications such as MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Project management experience is a plus.

Customer Service > Prioritize and triage helpdesk tickets related to our ChMS and related tools.

Data Champion > Assist the entire staff team as they guard the church’s data and ensure its completeness and accuracy.

Data Reporting > Help the staff with data inquiries and reporting needs.

Data Security > Help maintain database security and confidentiality per internal data security protocols and best practices.

Event Registration > Coordinate with staff on event registration creation and check-in support.

Training > Create coherent and easy to follow end-user documentation and best practices and train staff and volunteers thereof.


Success in this role looks like:

Staff are trained, empowered and equipped to fully utilize our ChMS and related tools for ministry tasks and decision making.

Staff have high confidence in the accuracy of their ministry’s data and reports.

Data-related helpdesk tickets and projects are prioritized and triaged appropriately and timely.

Staff are well-served by the ChMS with regard to event registration and check-in.

Develop rapport with the Church IT Network and ChMS communities as a source of learning and development.
